Kelly Chapman Advanced Clinic:
In the intermediate/advanced clinic we will be working on fine tuning your mountain trail competition skills! Starting in the morning we will go over a few helpful groundwork exercises for body control and then move to obstacles inhand. During the morning inhand portion of the clinic we will go over sidepassing, backing through obstacles, 180 and 360 degree turns on over and through obstacles. After completion of our morning in hand work, we will break for lunch (provided by HWSC). In the afternoon session we will come back to the course ready to ride and work all the maneuvers on the obstacles all under saddle. We will also work on nailing transitions at the trot and canter going into and coming out of the obstacles by. We will finish the day off by running a few level 2 and 3 patterns. As you negotiate the pattern you will be coached through the course and at each obstacle to allow you to know where you can improve and where you shine!

All Mountain Trail Challenges at HWSC Extreme Mountain Trail are held in accordance with Premier Mountain Trail Association (PMT) rules, which includes hiring only PMT-certified judges.

Head PMT Judge Kelly Chapman is offering a training on our grounds for anyone interested in becoming certified as a PMT judge. In addition to attending this training, PMT judging candidates must pass a written test to be certified. Once certified, you could become a candidate to be hired for judging our EMT Challenges in the future, as well as competitions at other PMT parks in the region. Please see https://premiermountntrail.com/ for more information on the association and its rules.

This clinic is also open for competitors who want to attend and get the inside scoop on what their judges are looking for, even if you don‘t want to become certified as a judge yourself!

The morning clinic time will primarily include instruction on PMT‘s rules and scoring system. Participants are encouraged to return at 6:00pm Friday evening to attend a practice judging session with horses on the course. Judging clinic participants are also invited to shadow Kelly Chapman as she judges the EMT Challenge on Sunday, June 13.

Cost is $250 and includes lunch. Participants will not need to bring horses for this clinic.

Please reach out with any additional questions!

Kelly Chapman Beginner Clinic:
Is your goal this year to grow your partnership and trust between you and your horse? Have ever wanted to learn how to navigate your horse safely through and over obstacles or want to dive into mountain trail competition? If you answered yes to any of these questions this is the clinic for you! In a relaxed and fun atmosphere, we will teach you how to confidently and safely introduce your horse to obstacles while learning more about the great sport of mountain trail.
The basic structure of the day is as follows:
We will start out Inhand in the morning working a few groundwork exercises in the arena and then move to all Inhand over obstacle work on the course. Our goal in this session is to introduce and build confidence for both you and your horse, and be completing most if not every obstacle on the course! We break for lunch (provided by HWSC). After lunch everyone will come back tacked up and ready to ride over the obstacles (can also come back Inhand if preferred). Finally, we put everything together we worked on throughout the day and work a few rookie and level 1 mountain trail patterns together!
