Club Rules and Guidelines
Rider’s age is as of January 1 of the current year.

A negative Coggins test of the current year will be required to show at HWSC.

Pony height to be 56” and under.

Ribbons are given through 6th place or optional dollar.

SEI/STM helmets are strongly recommended but not required.

HWSC reserves the right to combine classes in there are fewer than four entries.

Pattern Books are available for purchase. These provide all patterns for the current show season.  Price will be announced at the shows.

Classes must be entered at least 2 classes prior to the start of the added class.

HWSC is PAC approved

Each horse/rider team may compete in only one division per show.

Jr. Horses are 5 years and under, Sr. Horses are 6 years and over.

The walk/trot division for riders 11 and over who are not yet read to lope or canter. It is also for more experienced riders on young horses that are not yet ready to lope or canter. We do not encourage green riders on green horses. Walk/Trot exhibitors are prohibited from entering any lope/canter classes.

Small Fry division is for walk/trot riders 10 and under.

Exhibitors in Small Fry and the Walk/Trot classes are not eligible for Championship riding classes, but are allowed to enter the Championship Showmanship and Halter classes if they qualify.

Lead Line class is free, but exhibitors must still enter, obtain a number and sign a waiver.

Flying lead changes will not be required in Western Riding.

Western Riding will alternately use AQHA/APHA/MIHA patterns 1 & 2.  Copies will be available in the clubhouse.

The Lunge Line class will follow NSBA rules except no warm-up time is allowed.

Lunge Line entries may show under saddle but are limited to the Walk/Trot classes.

Sweepstakes Trail needs to be entered before noon and will be judged simultaneously with your age division pattern.

High Point & Reserve High Point awards are given in the following divisions:
35 & over
19-34
14-18
13 & under
Walk/Trot 11-17
Walk/Trot 18 & Over
Small Fry

Daily High Point awards are calculated on a one horse/one rider basis.

Championship, Sweepstakes, and Lunge Line do not count towards Daily High Points.

Exhibitors may enter more than one halter class but only the best halter placing will count for Daily High Point.

Each horse/rider team must use the same back number all season in order for year end points to accumulate.

Members must complete all requirements to be eligible for year end awards.  See Membership Application for details.  Members must complete all work credits and compete in at least 3 shows to be eligible for year end awards.

Members will only receive one year end all around award per division.

Club Policies
Any person entering the grounds absolves and discharges the HWSC, Inc. and any person connected with the show from any loss, damage or injury to himself, herself, property or animal.

Un-sportsmanship like conduct will not be tolerated.  Exhibitors will be ask to leave at the discretion of the board

Horses endangering exhibitors and/or other horses may be asked to leave arena or grounds at the discretion of the judges or show management.

If a SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for Allegan County is still in effect at 7:00 a.m., or goes into effect prior to show time, the show will be cancelled. Show management has the right to cancel if severe weather occurs during a show. Check our web site or local TV in case of flooding.

No alcoholic beverages are permitted on the club grounds.

Returned check fee $25.00.
